what we offer
Induction
This is an Induction group for anyone interested in joining Gwellheans groups and activities. It will outline the purpose of Gwellheans, provide information on the groups and activities on offer and provide an opportunity for potential clients to think through their goals and how these goals could be met and supported by attendance at Gwellheans.
From this workshop clients will have developed their own action plan and timescale for involvement with Gwellheans.
Skills for Recovery
Gwellheans is collaborating with Cornwall College to provide accredited programmes and qualifications which meet national standards.
These are designed to provide clients with the inner resources needed to maintain permanent recovery and relapse prevention.
These qualifications will offer clients the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge, and to be recognised for their achievements in developing skills for learning and for life.
We will be running a number of units, each of which lasts four weeks. There is no obligation to continue after each unit, and clients can discuss with their key worker how they wish to progress.
The units we will be running initially are:
- Introduction to assertiveness and decision making
- Introduction to understanding and achieving personal learning goals
- Understanding diversity in society
All of the units will include subjects like:
anger management handling emotions managing conflict
communication skills understanding self and others
confidence and self awareness
Mindfulness
Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP) is a 10 session mind-body approach drawn from Mindfulness-Based practices and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Each class teaches mindfulness practices along with cognitive behavioural exercises to promote abstinence through a skilled response to life’s challenges. Participants will be expected to commit to daily home practices throughout the programme.
